Info: AlTamye Theatre Group is an Egyptian theatre group that seeks alternative means of expressing the Arab human mind and heart, in terms of anxiety, rage, pain, anger, stress, boredom, joy, and all what can be transmitted in a live performance through scenography, poetry, music, light, visuals, video-art, paint, in a rich mix of tools & emotions.
Managed and directed by Salam Yousry, the group was established in 2003, and is composed of more than 15 devoting young artists. El Tamye Wa7ed Wel Shagar Alwan (Translated: Different trees, same soil), was the group’s career jump in which they performed Sheikh Emam’s music in an engaging theatre performance. The performance has been on demand since 2004, and is still on show!
The first performance made by Al-Tamye group, October 2002, Was performed at TownHouse Gallery’s “New Space” at down town Cairo as the first play performed at the space, and performed at El-Sawy Culture Wheel to announce the venue’s opening in March 2003.
Al-Tamye Wahed Wel Shagar Alwan(Same Mud, Different Trees)
First performed in November 2003 and has been on demand ever since that date. A musical-theatrical performance that portrays the works of Sheikh Imam and Adli Fakhry, two well-known leftist musicians who lived a couple of decades ago.
Hekayet El-Hekaya (The Story of The Story)
A short film written by Salam Yousry, directed by Moustafa Yousef, acting by Al-Tamye Theatre Group. Co-produced by Al-Tamye Theatre Group and Semat Productions, March 2005.
Mosab’a (The Contest)
Written and Directed by Salam Yousry; Premier show: November 2005. Includes live music as well as video art.
Thawret ‘ala’ (Revolution of Thoughts) A musical written and directed by Salam Yousry, composed by Tamer Abu Ghazaleh. Premier show: November 2006; a live musical-theatrical performance that includes video art & animation made by Salam Yousry.
